Real Madrid take to the pitch at the Mestalla on Saturday evening, having won seven straight competitive matches. José Mourinho’s side visit a Valencia team sitting in the relegation zone, making them clear favorites on paper. However, the hosts have traditionally been an uncomfortable opponent for Madrid. Valencia vs Real Madrid preview.
Valencia have had a particularly poor start to the season, picking up just nine points from 11 rounds to sit 19th in the table. Javier Aguirre’s side have scored only eight goals, tying them for the weakest attack in La Liga.
However, they picked up an important win in their last outing, beating Elche 1–0 away thanks to a goal from Umar Sadiq. At the Mestalla, though, they have gone six league matches without a win.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, are in excellent form. Madrid have won their last seven competitive matches, including an away win over Barcelona. In midweek Champions League action, they came away from AEK Athens with all three points in an eventful 3–2 win.
Mbappé and co. sit third with 27 points, just three points behind league leaders Barcelona. A win over Valencia would therefore pile further pressure on their rivals.
Valencia vs Real Madrid: injuries and absences
Valencia will be without Diego López, Sergi Canós, and David Otorbi due to injury, while José Copete has returned to training. Aguirre is expected to focus on stabilizing the defense.
For Real Madrid, Rodrygo, Raúl Asencio, and Ferland Mendy remain sidelined, while Vinícius Júnior is serving a suspension. Mourinho has confirmed, however, that Dean Huijsen, Ibrahima Konaté, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Arda Güler will all start.
Valencia vs Real Madrid betting tips
There is a significant gap in current form between the two sides. Valencia’s attack has been extremely weak, while Real Madrid have scored in every one of their last 11 competitive matches.
That said, home advantage and the rivalry between the two clubs call for caution. Valencia have made things difficult for Madrid at the Mestalla on several occasions in the past, so we’re not necessarily expecting a one-sided away win.
Our tip: Real Madrid to win.
We feel that the quality of the visitors’ attack and Valencia’s offensive struggles could prove decisive. Given Mbappé and co.’s current form, it’s hard to imagine the hosts holding them off for a full 90 minutes.
The problem is that the odds offered by bookmakers on a Real Madrid win are minuscule.
That makes a straight away win (2) fine as a banker bet, but too risky as a single. So we’re stepping up and looking for a handicap option on the Asian markets instead.
We took the odds from Boabet, where a huge welcome bonus awaits new players.
