The resumption of the Bundesliga is still a few weeks away, but German football lovers at Topsters will not be let down at the start of the year.
The 2023/24 season promises to be a very exciting one, and many German football fans will be glad that Bayern Munich did not go into the winter break in first place. But the main challengers for the Bavarians this time around are not Dortmund or Leipzig, but Leverkusen, who have been transformed under Xabi Alonso. The pharmaceuticals are on 42 points and 46 goals scored after 16 rounds, both club records unsurprisingly, but the bookies remain unimpressed by this run.

But before we get lost in the details of the rest of the season, let’s get back to the subject of this article, as there are some interesting records and statistics in the Munich side’s house. We’ve brought you some of them to help you with your betting in the New Year.

Munich know the recipe for success, and this unrivalled record is probably one that most of us who follow the German top flight have already come across. Last season’s dramatic last-minute gold was the 11th in a row for Bayern. It is a record not only in Germany but also in the top 5 leagues, the closest being Juventus, who had previously won Serie A 9 times in a row.
- Championship goals in a row
Munich’s philosophy is never to slow down, no matter if they are leading by several goals, they will keep the pressure on their opponents until the last minutes. This is almost always reflected in goals, given that the team has scored in each of their last 42 league games, by far the longest streak in the top flight at the moment. The team has scored 49 goals in 15 rounds, which is also a near record, as the 1976/77 season saw the Leathermen score 50 in as many rounds.
- Strong in the head
Thomas Tuchel’s side are literally very strong in the head, but they are also great in the head, having already scored 11 goals with that body section, two more than they scored in the whole of last season. Kane is responsible for 5 of the 11, and unsurprisingly leads the league in that respect too.
- HurriKane sweeps everyone
Unbelievably, Harry Kane is setting records in his first year, with 26 hits (!) in 15 rounds. He has 21 of them himself, consigning the record to the past held by Haaland, who needed 22 Bundesliga games to reach 21. So the England captain is averaging 64 minutes a game in the league, so it’s definitely worth watching and betting when the bookies make a mistake in the goalscoring market.

While this is not Bundesliga related, since it is literally unbeatable, we thought it worth listing. The Champions League group stage format was last seen this year, and Bayern ended it without a defeat in any of their last 40 group matches (36 wins, 4 draws)!
