On Tuesday evening, Manchester United continue their Champions League campaign away at Atlético Madrid. Diego Simeone’s side head into the match in excellent form, while the English club have gone four games without a win. Three points would be especially important for the hosts, who began the Champions League group stage with a defeat.
Atlético Madrid began their European campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, but have since won four straight competitive matches. Among their victories, the Madrid side beat Real Madrid 2-1, and most recently picked up all three points away at Alavés, also winning 2-1.
Manchester United arrive in Spain in a very different frame of mind. Michael Carrick’s side started their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 win over Sabah Baku, but have failed to win in four matches since. They most recently played out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The two sides last met in the Champions League in 2022, when Atlético Madrid eliminated the English club in the round of 16 with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Atlético Madrid vs Manchester United: injuries and absences
Manchester United could face serious problems with their absentees. Benjamin Sesko and Patrick Dorgu are both definitely out, while Noussair Mazraoui’s involvement is in doubt. Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw were also missing from Monday’s training session, so their participation is uncertain as well.
At Atlético Madrid, Alexander Sørloth has returned to training, but his lack of match fitness puts his involvement in question. The coaching staff are also monitoring the condition of Alejandro Grimaldo and Lee Kang-in.
Atlético Madrid vs Manchester United betting tips
Sports Mole’s statistical model gives Atlético Madrid a 45.45% chance of victory, with a draw at 25.21% and an away win at 29.31%.
The Madrid side’s superior form and home advantage clearly favor them, though United’s attack still has the quality to find the net.
From a betting perspective, Atlético Madrid Draw No Bet (DNB) could be an interesting option. The under 3.5 goals market is also worth considering, as Atlético are a famously solid defensive side in European competitions, while United are currently struggling badly up front.
Given the hosts’ organized defense and Manchester United’s shaky form, we expect a tight, tactical encounter.
