PSG–Lyon: betting tips and odds (2026.10.24)

Contents

A true top-of-the-table clash awaits in round eight of the French league, as second-placed PSG host league leaders Lyon. Both sides have collected 14 points, meaning the match is effectively a battle for first place. The Parisians are in red-hot form, though injuries could seriously complicate things for Luis Enrique.

After a weaker September, PSG have hit top form again. The capital side have won seven straight competitive matches, including four consecutive league wins.

Paris are also excelling in the Champions League, beating Manchester City and then Barcelona, both by 4–2. In the Barcelona match, Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha, and Fabián Ruiz all got on the scoresheet.

PSG’s attack is especially fearsome at home. They’ve won their last three home competitive matches with a combined goal difference of 13–3.

Lyon have also had an excellent start to the season. Paulo Fonseca’s side have lost just once in seven rounds and boast one of the league’s best defenses. In their last league match, they came from behind to beat Nice 2–1, which sent them to the top of the table.

Their midweek Europa League outing was far less successful, however, as Lyon lost 3–0 to Hoffenheim. That could be a serious warning sign ahead of the Paris showdown.

PSG–Lyon: injuries and absentees

PSG are dealing with a particularly long injury list. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is out long-term with a serious knee injury, while Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos are both struggling with thigh injuries. Nuno Mendes is also unavailable.

Luis Enrique may therefore be forced to make changes in several positions. Up front, Désiré Doué, Maghnes Akliouche, and Ferran Torres could play key roles, while Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz may provide stability in midfield.

For Lyon, Nicolas Tagliafico and Mohamed Ouedraogo could be sidelined through injury, while Keito Nakamura is serving a suspension. Corentin Tolisso and Pavel Šulc could be key for the visitors.

PSG–Lyon betting tips

Based on current form, PSG are clear favorites, but Lyon’s league performance so far shouldn’t be underestimated either. The visitors have conceded just five goals in seven rounds, though their midweek Europa League defeat showed their defense can be breached.

From a betting standpoint, we see a PSG win as the most interesting option. The Parisians’ attack remains highly effective despite their injury troubles, and they’ve been almost unstoppable at home in recent weeks.

As an alternative, the over 2.5 goals market is also worth considering. PSG’s last three home competitive matches produced 16 goals combined, and Lyon are unlikely to set up purely to defend. That said, the average odds of 1.40 for this option don’t look especially tempting, so this bet might be better hunted down in-play.
