On Saturday evening, the two top sides in La Liga meet in Seville, as third-placed Betis host league leaders Barcelona. Hansi Flick’s side remain unbeaten after eight rounds, but Manuel Pellegrini’s team head into the clash in excellent form as well.
Barcelona have made an astonishing start to the 2026/27 season, winning all eight of their league matches and scoring 34 goals along the way. The Catalans most recently beat Getafe 3-0, and also picked up a win away at Galatasaray in the Champions League.
The attacking line’s performance has been especially impressive, but Flick also has to keep an eye on the squad’s workload over the coming weeks. The match against Betis will be followed by a Champions League clash with PSG and then El Clásico against Real Madrid.
Betis are also in excellent form. The Seville side have collected 19 points from eight matches, putting them third in the table. They most recently thrashed Osasuna 5-2, and have won five of their last six competitive matches.
Barcelona won the sides’ previous league meeting 3-1, and before that claimed a memorable 5-3 win away in Seville in an eight-goal thriller.
Betis vs Barcelona: Injuries and Absences
For the hosts, Junior Firpo and Aitor Ruibal will both definitely miss the match through injury. Pellegrini, however, can count on several key players, including Isco, Pablo Fornals, and Cucho Hernández.
For Barcelona, the good news is that Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong have returned to training, although neither is expected to start. Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji remain injured, while Eric García is available.
Betis vs Barcelona Betting Tips
Barcelona are the clear favorites based on their attacking play, and the bookmakers see it the same way, but Betis could put up strong resistance on home turf. The Seville side scored five goals against Osasuna, while the Catalans are averaging 4.25 goals per league match.
From a betting perspective, we find the both teams to score option the most interesting. Both Betis’s attacking form and Barcelona’s highly effective attack support this pick.
As an alternative, the over 2.5 goals market is also worth considering. A Barcelona win is of course a realistic outcome, but given the hosts’ current form, we’d rather look for value in the goals markets this time.
The problem is that the bookies have priced in the goals heavily, leaving us with very poor odds on these basic betting options.
Betis vs Barcelona: Saturday, October 17, 18:30, Estadio La Cartuja, Seville.
