Yamal sets record? – goalscorer tips for Spain vs Italy
Lamine Yamal could score a record-breaking goal at any time, but he’s not the only one we have our eye on.
We started the 2024 European Championship with Johan Vonlanthen of Switzerland as the youngest ever goalscorer. Although Arda Güler’s incredible goal for Georgia moved him up to fifth place and made him the youngest ever debutant goalscorer at the European Championship, Spain’s superstar Lamine Yamal still has the tournament to write his name into the history books. But will that goal come against Italy?
It’s quite a list of the youngest goalscorers, with Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Cristian Chivu, Patrick Kluivert and even Ferenc Bene in the top 10, which is still led by the aforementioned youngster.
But Yamal, at 16, could not only be the youngest player, but also the youngest goalscorer if he scores for Germany. He had a good chance of doing so against Croatia, missing a goal and assisting on one occasion, and is expected to start against the Squadra Azzurra.
A single goal from the Moroccan-Guinean-Spaniard would cost 22bet a pretty penny, as he could be worth nearly five times the price of a goal from Gigi Donnarumma. Álvaro Morata, who also scored three tries against the Croats, is the first choice for La Roja and is available at @2.60 on 22bet, which is no wonder as the Atlético striker is brimming with confidence, which was evident in the first meeting.
The big question is whether Luciano Spalletti will make any changes after the somewhat bare-knuckle attacking display against the Albanians, or stick with Scamacca. Although Atalanta’s goalkeeper did not play badly, he excelled in his preparation, even with his three attempts. In any case, the provisional starters have called the 25-year-old back into the team, and he is also the favourite to score for Italy.
Interestingly, however, six Spaniards are more likely to score than the Italian at the bookmakers, which is a talking point. Scamacza is followed by Raspadori and Retegui, two strikers who are unlikely to start.
We wouldn’t necessarily pull in goal scorers Bastoni and Barella against the Albanians, but at odds of over 5, Chiesa could be a fantasy. The Juventus winger has also scored three tries and his MVP award indicates he can be counted on in front of goal.
