Scotland vs Switzerland prediction and free tip
Scotland will be fighting for their lives against Switzerland, while the Helvetii can secure their progress.
Two direct rivals of the Hungarian and German national team will close Wednesday’s matchday at the European Championship, and the stakes are high in the Scotland-Switzerland meeting. With the Scots coming off a 5-1 drubbing of the Germans in the opener, it’s a matter of life and death for us to get a good result, while Switzerland are in a great position after beating us 3-1 and if they can score, they’ll be in the bag for qualification.
The Scottish national team performed below expectations against the Germans, which understandably left the team feeling very disappointed. It will be up to head coach Steve Clarke to shake up the squad, but not many changes are expected as the Scottish squad’s immersion is limited. Porteous, who was forced off in the first game, will be ruled out and Che Adams could be left out of the starting line-up, with Lawrence Shankland coming in for him.
Switzerland are almost in the box after beating Hungary, who have a good chance of progressing, but the second half against Hungary, where the Hungarians came closer to an equaliser than the Swiss did to a third goal, could be a worrying sign for the Helvetii.
According to reports, national team captain Murat Yakin will have to rethink the games of Zakaria, Zuber and Ndoye, as all three players have had minor problems.
The bookmakers have priced the Scots well, but we wouldn’t write them off completely. They’ll be fighting for their lives, and another win – even by several goals – would probably mean their farewell. After the first game, Scotland’s main aim will be to stabilise their defence and if they can do that, they could be in with a chance.
Our tips would now be approached on a statistical basis. Switzerland are performing quite well in the first halves, as we can read they have won 11 of their last 16 games going into the break. We are therefore betting on a hell of a goal at odds of 1.90.
