PSG can start the year with a trophy
Luis Enrique will win his first trophy as head coach of PSG on home soil, against a relegation candidate.
On Wednesday evening, the French Super Cup final will be played at the Parc de Princes in Paris, between league leaders and defending champions PSG and Toulouse. The favourites are, of course, clear favourites, with PSG’s win being priced at around 1.20-1.30, while a surprise win for Toulouse could pay up to 13 times the odds.
The last time the two sides met in reverse was in August, when the teams finished 1-1. Back then Luis Enrique was just getting acquainted with the conditions, but PSG are now much more balanced than they were six months ago.
Of course, injuries continue to plague the squad, with Dembelé, Kimpembe, Navas and Mendes still on the sidelines, but Arnau Tenas could be on the pitch.
PSG have suffered just one defeat against French sides this season, with Toulouse failing to beat the capital side since 2016.
If the teams weren’t coming off a two-week layoff, it’s pretty clear that we’d think a home – even handicap – success for PSG would be a particularly strong bet, but there’s a tiny bit of uncertainty in this pairing right now. We don’t have any big bets on this final, but we can play a combination that would be a winner if PSG win in normal time and the away team – who will presumably be the underdog – commit more fouls against Mbappe.
