Italian tips for Monday night – we would double with goals

There are two games left for Monday, and although neither of them are very interesting, they are still winnable.

The 32nd round of the Serie A is not very exciting, with Atalanta-Verona and Fiorentina-Genoa remaining on Monday. We’ve picked a brave one for both games, if one of them wins, it’s a plus for the project from 20bet.

Fiorentina-Genoa

There is practically nothing of interest in this meeting, a real mid-table clash. The Florentines can still challenge for 7th place in the cup, but the preference is probably now for the EKL return match against Viktoria Plzen, which will take place on Thursday evening at the Artemio Franchi. After a 0-0 draw in the Czech Republic, the Italians can be optimistic, but certainly not overconfident, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the Tar would rotate his starting line-up a little.

Genoa have had a slightly calmer spring, scoring on a slow-water, wash ashore basis, but Alberto Gilardino’s men can finally take a step back with a 2-1 win in Verona. They are also looking good, having only been beaten by Atalanta, Inter and Monza in 16 games since 10 December, and they are busy picking up draws, sometimes punctuated by a 2-1 success.

Although there are some absentees, the biggest question is perhaps Italiano’s attitude. For the moment, different press outlets are predicting different teams, but the likes of Faraoni, Quarta, Parisi and Maxime Lopez are not ruled out.

In the autumn, Fiorentina won 4-1 at Luigi Ferraris, while last year they shocked Genoa at home with a six-pointer, and now they are in for a good game. There’s really no stakes, you can let go of the reins, you can enjoy the football. Let’s hope Gilardino sends his team out to score goals as quickly as possible, and then we could be in for a surprisingly spectacular 90 minutes.

Pick: Over 2.5 goals @2.05

Atalanta-Verona

But the no-stakes attitude is much less true for Hellas, who are fighting for their lives. True, the round was encouraging for Verona, as rivals Empoli lost, while Sassuolo, Frosinone and Cagliari only drew (Udinese’s game was abandoned at 1-1), so a win would see them jump up to 15th, which would be a big surprise.

Atalanta are not all that bad either, as Bologna’s stumble could see the Bergamo outfit move to within 3 points of the points lost if they beat Verona. Moreover, let’s not forget, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have one foot in the Europa League’s top 4 after they are now down to Liverpool at Anfield.

Thursday is a rematch here too, and we are not sure that the experienced manager will not rotate despite the three-goal lead. Pool are the odds-on favourites for the meeting in Bergamo, so we can’t say that it’s a foregone conclusion. Besides, the blue and black also have injuries and suspensions.

Verona are coming off a three-match winless run, but they have won twice in the last three years at the Gewiss. A difficult match to predict, as the visitors would be happy with a draw, but we won’t be surprised if they score here too.
