The Magpies are looking forward to the weekend in good form. They are unbeaten after a two-week break, beating West Ham (4-3) and Fulham (1-0 ). They drew 1-1 with Everton, leaving them eighth in the table and two points clear of sixth-placed Manchester United.

As for the away side, Tottenham are also in good form. Although they took a serious blow before the break (losing 3-0 at Fulham), they have the same record as Newcastle. They won twice (2-1 against Luton and 3-1 against Nottingham a week ago) and drew once (1-1 at home to West Ham), so, along with the Aston Villa debacle, they go into the weekend in fourth place, with the same number of points as Birmingham but one less meeting than Spurs.

Postecoglou has more pleasant problems than his colleague, as only Sessegnon. Solomon and Forster are certain to miss out for the Blue and Whites, while Richarlison’s game is uncertain.
