He is back – This is the tip to risk on Alcaraz
The young Spanish star will face Andrea Vavassori of Italy in the quarter-finals in Buenos Aires on Friday.
On Friday, the quarter-finals will continue in Buenos Aires, where Carlos Alcaraz will try to defend his title. The Spanish super-talent needs a confidence-boosting tournament win, having not won a trophy since Wimbledon last year.
In an ATP 250 tournament, Alcaraz is the heavy favourite to win the final. But they don’t give away wins for free, as he experienced in his first match. Although the Spaniard came from 20 games down to beat qualifier Camilo Ugo Carabelli. The Argentinean hitting on home soil, did not give his skin for cheap and systematically attacked Carlitos’ second serve, who lost 15 of 17 points (!) when his first serve failed to come.
Andrea Vavassori should have used a similar strategy, as she overturned the paper against 7th seed Györe László. The Italian is 28 years old but has was never ranked in the top 100. He is not the most frequent guest in ATP quarter-finals, but this is a very good tournament and he can play the defending champion without any pressure.
There is a big difference between the two players in terms of talent and playing ability. But as we wrote, they don’t give away wins for free and Alcaraz still needs to get up to speed on clay, as he last played on this surface at Roland Garros last year.
We do not see enough potential in Vavassori to take a set, but he could sweat out seven games. Pinnacle gives the best odds on this tip on the market
