ECL 2025: Real Madrid is not the biggest favourite
Real Madrid are not considered by bookmakers as the biggest favourites for the next Champions League season.
As expected, the Champions League final ended with a victory for Real Madrid on Saturday night, as the Spanish star club extended their lead and claimed their 15th ever Champions League/BEK trophy. Real Madrid now lead the way ahead of the rest, with Luka Modric or Toni Kroos alone claiming more Champions League victories than Barcelona, for example.
After Saturday’s triumphant final, there was of course a huge celebration. During the fiesta, Real’s all-powerful president Florentino Pérez spoke out, saying with his usual ‘modesty’ that they were already thinking of winning a 16th Champions League title.
This noble goal is of course helped by the fact that President Pérez will announce the arrival of Kylian Mbappé within days, further strengthening an already potent attacking line-up.
Real Madrid is not the top favourite for next season
Although Mbappé’s arrival in Madrid could be as significant as Cristiano Ronaldo’s, the bookmakers are not yet impressed by the Frenchman’s expected arrival. In fact, the odds on the winner of next season’s title are only second for the defending champions, with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in first place.
After winning the last three editions, this duo is not surprising, but the order is interesting. Let’s not forget that Pep Guardiola will be in his last season at City, and the Catalan manager himself spoke about the motivational problems after winning the Premier League.
Interestingly, the oddsmakers are giving virtually no team other than the City-Real duo a real chance of winning the final. Arsenal and Bayern Munich are third in the power rankings at the same odds, followed by Liverpool and Barcelona, who are undergoing a coaching change. For the latter, it may be more about the name than the re
