Barcelona – Bilbao – where will the Spanish Super Cup be played?

As last year, the 2026 Spanish Super Cup final will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The semi-finals of the Barcelona-Bilbao Super Cup will be played on Wednesday and the Real Madrid-Atlético Madrid Super Cup on Thursday, with the final taking place on Sunday.

Barcelona-Athletic Bilbao possible line ups

According to Barca’ s website, the squad is almost complete, with Ronald Araújo returning to the first team after returning to training, and only Andreas Christensen and Gavi remaining out due to knee injuries.

In midfield, Eric García’s excellent form could see Flick push Pedri forward, while the attacking line-up remains a major puzzle. Robert Lewandowski is in contention to start, but all the signs are that Ferran Torres will be given a chance in midfield again this time, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha’s wing play behind him setting the pace.

Barcelona (4-3-3) :Ter Stegen – Koundé, Araújo, Eric García, Balde – De Jong, Pedri, Gündoğan – Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Raphinha

Athletic Bilbao, on the other hand, are bleeding from several wounds. Yeray Álvarez is suspended, while Yuri Berchiche, Aymeric Laporte, Beñat Prados, Unai Egiluz and Maroan Sannadi are out through injury. Ernesto Valverde will still send out a powerful team, led by Nico Williams, who has made Barcelona a household name, and his brother Iñaki Williams, who could be a serious threat on the wings.

In the Basque forward line, Gorka Guruzeta scored against Osasuna last time out, which could be enough to keep him in the starting line-up, although Alex Berenguer is a serious contender. Athletic are expected to rely on a compact defence and quick transitions, but Barcelona’s superior ball possession and creativity could be a decisive factor.

Athletic Bilbao (4-2-3-1): Unai Simón – De Marcos, Vivian, Paredes, Lekue – Vesga, Herrera – Iñaki Williams, Sancet, Nico Williams – Guruzeta

The stakes are high: the winner will reach the Spanish Super Cup final, where an El Clásico could be on the cards. The only question is whether Athletic can make things difficult for Barca, who are currently playing confidently.

Barcelona-Bilbao betting tips

The Catalans are in more convincing form, have a deeper frame and fewer absentees. Athletic are also without several key players at the back, which could be a decisive factor in a one-match tie like this. It may not be a straightforward match, but Barca’s quality could come out in the end, so we can’t bet on anything other than a Catalan victory. The Asian handicap option gives us odds of 1.74 on Rabona.
