Atlético Madrid managed to win a penalty shootout against Inter in the BL on Wednesday. It means the Madrid side ousted last year’s finalists to reach the last eight, where they will face Dortmund. It looks a worthwhile match-up from Simeone’s point of view and with the league and cup already gone, the BL could well be the team’s big target this year.
As for Sunday’s game, Vitolo, Lemar, Paulo and Gimenez are injured, but the others are healthy. This means that Griezmann, one of the heroes of Wednesday’s game, could start again, as could Azpilicueta, but Depay and Morata are also healthy, so Simeone can make a selection up front.
Barcelona reached the quarter-finals of the BL again after 4 years after beating Napoli 3-1 on Tuesday. There is understandably a lot of joy for the Catalans now, as they achieved this success with several key players injured and out of action. Pedri, Gavi and De Jong will be missing from midfield this time around, while Alonso, Balde and Torres are still not recovered. The Catalan press is predicting virtually the same starter for the game as against Napoli, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Joao Félix, for example, starts against his former team.

This is not an easy match to predict. Both teams are coming into this one coming off tough midweek battles, and their last three games have all resulted in 1 goal each. We expect a three-legged encounter with 1-2 moments that could be decisive. We would not dare to bet on handicaps or goals here.
A draw would not be a tragedy for either team, so the half time or end draw option at odds of 1.80 is our main bet for this meeting, and seems a strong choice.
And finally, an extra idea which is in the player yellows. Joao Félix left Metropolitano in less than ideal circumstances, and this could bring provocation from the home crowd and former teammates, and Félix with his southern temperament could be the ideal ‘partner’ for this.
